Selecting Files from the Open Dialog


The Microsoft Windows operating system includes a standard dialog interface for selecting files to be opened. the Open dialog allows you to select a single file or multiple files using a standard Windows protocol. This is described in the table below.

Opening Files from the Open dialog

To Select:

Procedure:

One File

  1. Point to the target file and click the mouse button to highlight it.

  2. Click [Open]. [more]

Multiple Files

Grouped together

  1. Click on the fist image to select it.

  2. Press and hold the [Shift] key to enable range selection mode.

  3. Click the last file of the group. The entire range is highlighted.

  4. Click [Open] to open all files.

Multiple Files

Not grouped together

  1. Click on the first file to highlight it. [more]

  2. Press and hold down the [Ctrl] key to enable multiple selection mode.

  3. Click on each file to select it.

  4. Click [Open] to open all files.
