Signal to Noise Ratio

The Signal To Noise ratio measures the statistical quality of a signal. Mathematically, it is the measured value divided by the uncertainty, or noise, in that value. This is also given by the inverse of the relative error. This quantity is often abbreviated SNR or S/N. Higher SNR implies higher statistical confidence in a measurement.
