Point Measurements

A Point Measurement refers to interrogating the image for its value at a specific location. Mira gives real-time point measurements of image through the Mouse Pointer. These point measurements are reported in the Image Coordinate Display section of the Image Toolbar.

Whenever the mouse pointer passes over an image, the pointer changes to the icon of the current command mode for the window. For example, if Line Profile Move Mode is active, the pointer changes to . If no command mode is active, the Image Window is in "Roam Mode" and the mouse pointer becomes a crosshair. In Roam Mode, no specific action is attached to the primary mouse button.

A point measurement is made in all command modes, including those belonging to a Command Toolbar. Even thought the mouse pointer may change to that of the command mode, the pointer still has a "hot point", usually at its center, in which a point measurement is continuously reported.
